2008 BRENTWOOD SOCCER

Volunteer Requirements

·       In order to register your child in a Brentwood Summer Program, it is required that each family volunteer for 1 to 2 winter or summer program maintenance or concession shifts.  One shift is 3 ½ to 4 ½ hours.

·       Each family is required to work 1 shift for the first soccer player registered.  If there is a second child 1 additional shift is required.  The maximum shifts per family are 2 shifts.

·       You can earn shift credits by volunteering as a Coach or Assistant Coach.  1 shift credit is given for Coach, 1 shift credit is given for Assistant Coach and 1 shift credit is give for Manager (if required).  Manager is usually a role shared by coaches; however it can be a separate role if the team requires it.  There is a maximum of 3 shift credits per team; therefore you may have one coach and two assistant coaches, who also share the manager role.  As long as the total shift credits are no more than 3, there may be any combination of roles.

·       A buy-out option, called a Non-Volunteer Fee, is available for those families who cannot or chose not to work their required shifts.  The fee is $75.00 for the first child; $75.00 for the second child, up to a maximum of $150.00 per family.

·       A hire a student option is available as well.   This option requires you to select a maintenance or concession shift, and then hire a student to work the shift for you.  A list of students is available on the BCA website, however, if you have questions please contact the BCA Concession and Maintenance Coordinator.  You hire the student, either through the list provided by the BCA, or find a student (15 years of age or older) to work the shift in lieu of you working it.    Prior to the shift you are required to leave a cheque, payable to the student, with the BCA Office Manager (do not pay the student directly).  The shift is still your responsibility, so if you or the student does not show up you will be invoiced $75.00 for the missed shift.

·       If you have not fulfilled your shift from the previous season, you will be required to pay the $75.00 missed shift before your child is allowed to play the current season.
